My wife and I are relocating to B'ham and are very happy with our credit union here outside of Atlanta. We aren't interested in going back to a bank at all, for various reasons. Does anyone here have opinions of local credit unions based on experience, loan rates, etc? Thanks!

I have had a couple of loans through America's First and have always found them to be easy and courteous to deal with.

I've had no problems with Legacy. They aren't brand new or anything, but when I was looking for home loans and stuff they were just setting up their program, so I don't know how the rates are.

There are several good ones around town in addition to Legacy and I&S. Rates are typically far better than banks.

I've always done business with America's first and have nothing but good things to say about them.

I have had loans with America's First when I used to live over there (auto loans), and I think I even had one with Legacy. They seemed to be fine at the time, but it has been several years since I lived there and I didn't know if anything had changed. Are there any in the Birmingham area that are education based/teacher's credit union? It's not a big deal, but I am in education so I thought I'd ask.....Thanks!

America's First for sure. I have been with them over 20 years and never had a glitch!
