@BAMA DAVE,
I agree that the scale of the park is deceiving. The maturing of the landscaping is contributing to a more objective view of the space. I began to notice last year when everything started going vertical that is seemed to help to suddenly have visual barriers.

Your photos are very good, especially the color saturation. So often photos have those 'candy' colors that are too post card looking.

With the Zypbikeshare program starting later this month, I expect to be seeing a lot more of RRP. And also enjoying seeing the new Powell Plaza coming out of the ground next to the park.

Keep posting, you are good.

The Muhly grasses are blooming in Railroad Park. Couldn't resist taking a few more photos. They don't seem to be at peak bloom yet, though.

Fantastic BD.
I'm so glad you got these. I was out three weeks ago and tried with my phone lol, but alas, not so good.

Your third photo is really nice in that it really captures the sense of place that is developing all around the area.

I have a dear one in UAB for weeks now, and everyday when I leave I take long walks to both meditate and take in the urban aura of the broader area, including walking along and seeing all the progress on Rotary Trail.

When killing time in the area you should have the Pepperjack Gyro at GLORY BOUND at 1st and 20th South. (head of the RT)

Thanks, Preguntas. I'll keep that in mind!

I really like how the whole area around Railroad Park is changing. It's hard for me to believe the transformation and how urban it feels.

Default The Empire building the night of the Magic City Trail lighting.

The Empire building beginning to show a little of its glory as it moves toward becoming a new Marriott Hotel.

That does look great.

However those red and orange looking lights are curious. Reminds me of when the guys on JOX Roundtable were offered a chance to spend the night in the remodeled Redmont alone before it opened to the public and they wouldn't do it.

I bet both those buildings have plenty of stories. If those walls could talk... (or bleed)..
