I live in the Cullman area and am currently attending the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I am thinking about transferring to UAB, which would be about the same distance from my house as UAH. The only problem I have- I am not sure about the traffic... how bad are the interstates around UAB? I cannot move, and I do not want to transfer schools if it will take me twice as long to commute.

Traffic from the north side of town is not that bad. It's the south end that goes into gridlock at 5 p.m. each day.

Yup the commute in from the north on I-65 is not bad...the bad one is coming in from the south (Chilton and Shelby Counties)...

The widening of I-65 to six lanes through Blount county and northern Jefferson was completed about three years ago....so you've got about 25-30 miles of six lane freeway coming in from the Cullman side.

The widening of I-65 coming from the south is just beginning and is long overdue...
