Can anybody tell me about the area? Safe place to live? Good schools? I heard it's close to Trussville which has a lot of stores and etc.

Odenville is a very small town in St. Clair County. A lot of people with Odenville addresses probably don't live in Odenville proper, but in the rural areas surrounding the town. So, you could live in "Odenville" but actually live quite a bit further out. You'll have to factor that, and the winding, indirect, two-lane roads, into your commute times both to work and to shopping.

Trussville has two large shopping areas that have all the chains you need. One is at the Chalkville Mtn. Road exit of 59 and has Wal-Mart, Sam's, a movie theater, etc., and the other is at the US11 exit off 459, which has Lowe's, Home Depot, Staples, Target, etc. and the bulk of the chain restaurants.

I can't speak directly to the schools. I've never heard anything particularly good or bad. I think the high school is fairly new.

Frankly, the area is quiet and lovely - and peaceful...for now lol....we drove around the area on the way back to Leeds, just looking at acreage. It's a bit remote, but not really..it has access to most of the things you need or want..it's not a terrible drive to The Summit, brookwood, Trussville's rather newer shopping etc..if I flew out a lot, that might be a pain in the butt for sure, but there are tradeoffs - the area might turn into a newer north Shelby-like but that's going to be a while I think - years

Thanks for your replies, I've seen a lot of nice quality homes for a great price. Currently under a contract on a great house I've seen over there, so more than likely me and my family will get the house. I will be working in the downtown area of Birmingham. Traffic doesn't look as bad as areas like Hoover, Alabaster, and etc. That was my main point. Overall it looked like a great place to me and it might become a newer north Shelby. (I hope it doesn't)

Although, I still haven't heard anything about the good or bad about the school system.
