(Try calling and ask for directions. It is the last business, on the very left end as you enter, of that same plaza where Win Dixie is.)

Fernando's up on McFarland in Northport (basically Tuscaloosa, I say) is pretty good too. (Regarding margaritas, chips and salsa.)

Thanks, satellite on my smart aleck phone has shown me the building. I may go Saturday.
I will report.

you wrong - of course it says something about whether it's good latin food or not so much in place like Birmingham Alabama ! it may not say much if you see latin eat in Houston or Los Angeles, but in BIRMINGHAM ? sure it does

it say something if you see lots of Chinese family eat in one chinese restaurant all the time, rather than some others in a place like BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA , but it might not say much in San Francisco

it say something maybe good if you see lot of East Asian eat in one place more than another Indian place in a city like Birmingham where not many Indians live - it wont say much if in Mumbai or New York !

this Birmingham ALABAMA not Miami or NYC or Chicago.

you no see facts, you see what you want to see, but you dont know what you talking about ! Birmingham is not BIG, fantastic city, it's small - it's not big as Atlanta, no ?

Well I have not gotten to Tuscaloosa yet but it is still on my radar.

I have found a few new places, (not Mexican, forgive me hijacking my own thread) one I would like to share.

The Fig Tree on Cahaba Heights Road across from Satterfield. This is the consumate 'hole in the wall' place that serves great food despite being in a place that makes one wonder if this is for real.

I have been three times in two weeks. Check them out on facebook. Two nice guys with a lot of talent and ambitions. JP has some impressive credentials.

Get it while it is still moderately priced.

Crab Cake Benedict for Sunday Brunch? Yes, please.

I'm still going by The Fig Tree about twice a month and enjoy all my visits. I do fuss with JP a little about some consistancy issues, but they are minor compared to his skill and desire to please. (can't find that at a chain)

Also, I went to THE BOOT at the Preserve Village in Hoover this afternoon. This is a great spot with some inspired foods including sandwiches, tacos and such. (great mac and cheese) A nice cocktail menu as well. The place is really comfortable and inviting, and a bonus is after a little lunch one can cross the street and walk up to the boulders in the woods that give the area its name; MOSS ROCK PERSERVE.

(I mentioned 'tacos' to keep this on topic) lol
