Good news for the Ham! I was shocked to see the decrease in Huntsville area

Do you guys think that the majority of the growth is coming from the cbd?

Home prices up in Birmingham, down in Huntsville, mixed elsewhere | al.com

Well, after the boom market caused by BRAC, Huntsville is now dealing with the results of sequestration.

The other thing to consider is that home prices in Birmingham are being driven a great deal by the lack of new construction. Part of that is fewer contractors in the market after the meltdown, while another component of that is the swing of the pendulum to overzealous credit tightening. Supply and demand, you know.

I think the majority of that is still coming from the suburbs but I do feel confident that Bell will focus on improving Birmingham neighborhoods over his next term. The areas directly north and east of downtown and then maybe East Birmingham after that.

Especially for my wife and me, given how we're looking at selling around May, 2017, when the last child graduates. Then it's right back down to Forest Park.

We hope to beat you by a few years, cpg. But our plan is to go a bit further -- New Mexico -- in probably 2015. I love good news.
