This. 6th Avenue is good. 4th Avenue is sketchy, even though the neighborhood is really coming back. It really needs to pass the eyeball test.

But Restwood would make a boffo name for a cemetery or a retirement community.

Homewood is hard to beat for a young family. There are a lot of families with young children there, good schools, a walkable city center, a strong sense of community and a 15 minute drive to UAB hospital.

Go to thehomewoodstar.com and check out the community paper.

How did it end up working out? Our kids are similar ages as yours are now and we may be relocating to Birmingham this summer. Curious how you found the neighbourhood you decided on.
