Two new hotel projects in the works for Colonnade. This perimeter park continues to show lots of activity and is fast becoming an edge city.

Cool article and video on the now completed Thomas Jefferson Tower in downtown Birmingham. Lots of attention placed on the restored zeppelin mooring mast, which is the only one left in the entire world. They also gave a sneak peek of the Coach Bear Bryant suite.

Well now that Splash Adventure is for real it needs to be supported by typical family friendly type businesses. Some fast food, a cheap hotel, etc. That whole exit has potential.

One more day until the judge's plan deadline...

Historic Ramsay McCormack building could bring office space to Ensley | AL.com

Quote:
ArchitectureWorks determined Ramsay McCormack may not be large enough to accommodate the needs of the municipal court, which includes five courtrooms; judge offices, waiting and two conference rooms for each courtroom; lobby; records and collections; parole/probation offices; court referral offices; and court referral offices. An approximate 13,000-square-foot addition could be required for required stairways and restrooms.
The firm noted that the building would be a suitable condition for historic tax credits and new market tax credits.

This article about the 5pts South Homewood Suites opening has a remark about the city's impacy on Alabama tourism.
http://www.bizjournals.com/birmingha...nts-south.html
Quote:
“Last year, Birmingham had a significant impact on Alabama’s tourism sector, accounting for 20 percent of the state’s overall visitation*,” said Adrian Kurre, global head, Homewood Suites and Home2Suites by Hilton. “The continued growth of the city, coupled with downtown’s booming center, provides the ideal opportunity to expand Homewood Suites’ offering for both business and leisure travelers to the area.”
