Especially in industrial property which, if the long-term forecasts are accurate, will be crucial. Reshoring is becoming a thing with both lower corporate taxes and the need to shore up vulnerable supply chains in the aftermath of Covid.

Birmingham should be a big winner in the industrial/logistics space.

One guy I've listened to a lot is a guy named Peter Zeihan. He's a geopolitical/economics guru who has examined the overall demographic trends worldwide, both where they are today and where they'll be in 10-20 years. I don't know how accurate he is, but the coming demographic shifts worldwide are a real thing.

The upshot of his predictions? China and Germany are both on the cusp of demographic collapse. He believes that we're in the beginning stages of a massive reindustrialization effort in the United States, with the Southeast being a primary beneficiary. There would be chaos to be sure, but the US ultimately comes out ahead.

My wife and I shopped at the Publix downtown today after church. Here it was a Sunday and the crane was going full tilt and a sizable crew of people are working.

I'm guessing this property is going up lickety split.

yep, looks like first floor concrete columns are already being poured... i'm guessing they're trying to get ahead of the cold weather as much as possible.

the stadium crew as been working weekends as well, although only saturdays so far.

Speaking of new construction, this one has flown under the PR radar: 2145 Highland Avenue. This is the building next to the Vesta. They've also got the defunct gas station fenced off as well as part of the construction zone. Anyone know what's going on there?

Stoneriver is the company whose logo is on the fence and the mostly do multifamily. But they also do offices as well.

A single-family 187 unit residential community apartment development is being proposed for Cahaba Valley Road in the city of Birmingham. The city’s Zoning Advisory Committee is scheduled to hear a rezoning request next week Dec. 15 that may pave the way for the new development. Jim Beatty of Capstone Collegiate Communities

Brook Highland shopping area on 280 is in the city of Birmingham. The area behind Wal-Mart on 280 and down 119 to Lake Purdy is Birningham.
