i was wondering if this project was still moving forward... looks like it is:

Auburn University’s Urban Studio celebrates 30 years in Birmingham + future plans

Currently, the Urban Studio is working with Williams Blackstock Architects to design & renovate a new office in the historic Hood McPherson Building in downtown Birmingham. Once the renovations are complete, the space will serve as an urban center for Auburn University—offering space for the Urban Studio and other programs in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction.

(their current space at the southeast corner of 20th St and 3rd Ave N would be a perfect space for a new restaurant, especially with the new improvements along 20th)

IRON & OAK

Looks to be a very suburban style development, but it will have a great view from atop the mountain on Beacon Parkway

UAB SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING COMPLEX

Nice presence on 14th St

COOPER GREEN

Old parking deck has been demolished. New replacement clinic currently being designed (6 floors)

THE MARSHALL

I think the back looks better than the front haha

NEXTEC BUILDING

(Old Sticks n Stuff building on 3rd Ave N). Anyone know what's going on in the lot across the street?

BROWN-MARX TOWER

I know, I know... is anything actually going on in this building? Such a prominent corner and key piece along 20th St

THE FRANK NELSON BUILDING

(Or just "The Frank"). Thank GOD the scaffolding is finally down... felt bad for Zaza.

WEBB BUILDING

Diagonally across the intersection of 20th/2nd N from The Frank. Supposed to have retail / restaurant on the ground level

THE 600

Construction elevator is still up, but I'm not sure any activity has been happening on this one for a while. Anyone know the status?

HARDWICK BUILDING

Construction signs up, but no work has started yet. Guessing it's still in permitting

AVENUE A TOWNHOMES

The last one (of 4) is nearing completion. Once The Hardwick and The Tracks come online, that view from the 24th St Bridge in the background will be stellar

ARTISAN FLATS

Existing buildings have been demolished and site has been cleared and leveled. Expect this one to start rising soon.

Probably similar to the reason Delta had them stored. Covid issues. They may not have the pilots to fly them or the flights they ran aren't profitable to run at this time.

Across from Continental Drift and Taco Bell next to One Place on 7th Ave S.

https://www.bizjournals.com/birmingh...e-yummefy.html

A new retail development has been proposed for Southside.

The group behind Yummefy at The Waites is planning to develop a multi-tenant retail building in a familiar location on the Southside at the corner of Seventh Avenue South and 22nd*St. South.

The site is where the Chai Market and Yum Yai Thai restaurant were both formerly housed before a fire at the former Hospitality Inn destroyed both businesses in addition to the already vacated hotel. After the fire, Yum Yai Thai opened a new location on U.S. 280 and the owners of Chai Market rebranded in 2019 and opened Yummefy in The Waites.

The proposed development site is located at 2131 Seventh Ave. S. Plans include construction of a single-story commercial building that will hold three tenants. The nearly 5,000-square-foot structure is expected for tenant suites to range from around 1,300 square feet to a little over 2,000 square feet each.

As I biked around this location last week, I notice them re-clearing the area off again. Now I see why
