They better get double turn lanes in there fast; it is already very busy. (Vestavia is lousy for road upgrades but that intersection may be in Birmingham, since the Colonnade is. Cahaba Heights is still waiting for relief on Crosshaven Drive from Vestavia Hills for a decade. )

Oddly, no one ever complains about how whites are controlling too much of a city. That's usually assumed to be a good thing.

Actually, I've had concerns about that too, I just haven't brought it up on this site. I'm a firm believer that the best way to overcome stereotypes and differences is to interact with different people throughout each day. I've never been too much a fan of "white areas", "black areas", "Arab areas", etc.

This is good in that it goes a little ways into netting out on the layoffs WF had just a little while ago...

Though this is small, I think LP will see much more commercial growth with HealthSouth moving in.

Anyone have a timeline for when the last phase of 20 Midtown will start construction? It's supposed to be the biggest of all with 200 +/- new units of housing (and a pool, clubhouse, fitness center, etc) and 30-40k square feet of retail, as well as over 300 parking spaces.

It appears it will take up the entire block between 20th and Arrington and 2nd Ave S and 3rd Ave S. The only information I've been able to find on it was here (specifically from pages 10 on) http://srsre.com/system/pdf_flyers/0...Book-HQ-LR.pdf

no real answer, other than to point out that the portion of this last phase's site is currently being used as material lay down space (and parking) for the contractor. wonder if that means it will start upon the opening of the publix building?

maybe some demolition will occur before then.

an open-air stadium seems to be getting more traction, but who knows at this point.

anyone know of any other construction cams for the various projects around town?

liv parkside has one, but it's basically complete.

the only other one I look at regularly is for 20Midtown: Construction Camera: 20 Midtown (rgs/20midtown)

looks like the 2nd floor is going up. you can see the venue in the distance.
