Finally looks like the Crossplex support development will get under way.

Yeah, I wanted to see a more urban design for that development, but I guess this is better than what's currently there. Hopefully it will turn out to be great.

Me too. However I figure suburban strip is the easiest and cheapest way to lay something out and I doubt these developers are willing to risk anything more than what they have proposed until the area proves itself. FWIW i never had any issue with the tenants themselves. Comfort Inn and Starbucks are legit enough. I would like to know what family restaurant they have planned.

It shouldn't be hard to attract a nice mix of tenants. That area has a very high traffic count, and the people over there spend tons of money in other areas of the metro. The 5Points area can definitely support better tier restaurants and retail.

Yes. It should be a priority and relatively easy to restore some prominence to Ensley Ave down to 5pts.

And if they get this project it will mean two wins for West Birmingham. At least this one has a time limit so it wont get to languish like Crossplex development.

I wish it was manifesting itself in the skyline, but definitely glad these old buildings are coming back to life.

I think the development activity in the city center has reached a point where we'll soon see significant skyline changes. I don't claim to be in the know, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some real estate companies, or developers planning a high rise or two.
