I hope to see Birmingham get it. Birmingham has a metro of 1.1 million yet about +3 million live within an hour and half from Birmingham, about time the area got more sports than just college football

The new stadium is already paying off, especially if this deal goes through.

There are a lot short-sighted halfwits who whined about the modest price tag, never realizing for a second what it would mean in terms of economic impact.

If this deal goes through, combined with the World Games, that stadium will have paid for itself inside of a couple of years.

I was surprised to see Jabo being quoted the most with his excitement of the prospect of landing the lead. I remember him being at the root of a couple of efforts to hinder Birmingham through legislation. It is a nice change to see representatives from both sides seeing the potential of this.

Don't let this fool you about him. For the most part, Birmingham doesn't have his best interest. This just so happen to be in his political territory.

Delta Air Lines returns to top market share at BHM after more than a year in second rank

Delta Air Lines has trumped American Airlines in market share at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport after more than a year of ranking second in the market.

Delta, which prior to the pandemic had long held the top spot at BHM, held 32% of market share in September, compared to American’s 31%. Southwest held 24%, while United Airlines held 13%.

The last time Delta held the top market share was in March 2020 at 29.64%, compared to American’s 28.4%.

Like Delta, BHM overall saw an increase in passenger traffic over the month as it inches closer to pre-pandemic levels.

BHM reported 202,755 passengers came through the airport in September. That’s up 3,765 compared to August and up 113.6% compared to September 2021. In September 2019, 246,252 passengers traveled through BHM. Fiscal year to date, traffic was up 132.1%.

Flights in September were down over the month but up 63.3% compared to the same month a year ago.

That section is definitely worth the improvement. But from 4th Ave to Linn Park isn't much retail or shops. A few businesses, FedEx dropout building, a parking deck and the BCS school board building. Now if this was from Morris Ave to University Blvd would be a dramatic impact, IMO
