Exactly, which is the height of stupidity, including all the motivations you listed.

It is really indefensible of an elected official faced with such strong opposition to his position.

It will be most interesting if one of the many possible persons who could call him to task shall do so. All people answer to someone, some just have to cross a line to find out. I'm sure this degenerate has a few outstanding favors out there.

Fun day...lots of people out. Felt like a big crowd so is good to see the numbers back that up. Saw tags from all over but that is expected for a big international event such as this. The racing was great and no yellows and those boys were gettin' after it. They have definitely progressed from early on when the comments were the track was not conducive to passing to years later where they now know where the passing zones are and there is more mixing it up as opposed to one big long parade lap which a lot of open wheel racing tends to become.

I guess this genius' phone rang enough times this morning for him to rethink this...

Alabama Sen. Pro Tem Del Marsh said he is willing to discuss a one-year extension for the state's historic renovation tax credit.

The program is set to expire next month unless lawmakers pass an extension during the current legislative session. A seven-year extension has already passed the House by a wide margin and is co-sponsored by 32 of the state's 35 senators.

This will obviously cost us in some other way that may not be obviously apparent when this guy lays out his terms for letting this bill pass.

That's gotta be it more so than just the typical, "Oh wait, this is helping Birmingham? TIME TO PUT THE BRAKES ON!!!!" of Alabama politics because of the overwhelming support it has gotten with 32 of 35 co-sponsoring state senators and a 7 year extension easily passing the House.

I think the last two sentences of my earlier post clicked in as I suggested. (payback time for him, as with so many small politicians with big appetites)

Probably letting him do one year to save face (lol) and then add a few next year, 'when he/they think this will all be forgotten)

WARNING: Sunshine pumper post ahead.

While we wait and keep our fingers crossed for a big F1000 or better company to move in it is still nice to hear about the little guys caught up in the momentum of downtown's remarkable resurgence.

Millie Ray's Famous Rolls expands, plans move into new downtown Birmingham space | AL.com

Quote:
Millie Ray's Famous Rolls -- a family-owned Birmingham bakery whose orange rolls are available at restaurants and grocery stores throughout the Southeast -- is expanding its operations and moving into a new, 15,000-square-foot facility in downtown Birmingham, real estate firm J.H. Berry & Gilbert Inc. announced today.

The new space, at 2912 Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd., is nearly five times larger than Millie Ray's current location in Irondale, allowing for more office space and a larger production area that will enable the bakery to increase its production capacity, J.H. Berry said in a media release.

"The location of the new facility is a good fit because of its proximity to the interstate and its location within the city of Birmingham," Millie Ray's co-owner Ben Ray III said. "Birmingham is our hometown, and we wanted to be in the downtown area. The City of Birmingham has also been generous in tax abatements, which helped make the decision even easier."

The couple that confused this Birmingham for the original is getting a free trip here along with the one provided by Virgin to LV.

Birmingham, Alabama giving British couple Magic City vacation after airport mix-up | AL.com

Quote:
The couple's trip is tentatively planned for some time in August. They will fly Virgin Atlantic Airways direct to Las Vegas and later fly direct from Las Vegas to Birmingham, Alabama. Heekin and Marlow will fly back to Sin City to catch a return flight home.

Cosby said he expects the couple to spend two or three nights in Magic City where they will receive free concert tickets to Iron City, free day of ziplining at Red Mountain Park and other yet unplanned activities.

"We want to make sure they get to sample Birmingham's great cuisine," he said. "We are going to pair them with a couple close to their own age and let them explore Lakeview and Avondale."

Heekin told AL.com she is appreciative of Cosby's "generous offer" and is looking forward to visit the South, and the city named after her Birmingham.

Before her "silly mistake," Heekin said she didn't know anything about Birmingham, Ala. besides that it existed. After, though, she decided to do a little research.*

"I did Google and happened across one website that drew my attention to Red Mountain Park," Heekin said. "It sounds like both a fun and interesting place to visit."

This is cool. Will be on the corner of one of the streets behind the Venue and RR Park, in the old "Jones Sportswear" building
