About the Stadium renderings. Those look like basic CAD renderings which don't have much as far as texturing goes to show you what materials will be used. A lot of basic geometry to give an overall rendering of the depth and dimensions. The final product is all about the materials used in a project that will make an impression when an individual sees it in person. I'm sure there will be design features that they haven't fully worked out yet. Don't worry, there are a lot of people thinking about the impression this will make and are looking at the details.

This quote says it all from one article on alabamanewscenter.com

"The current design is for a stadium with seating for up to 55,000. Officials said the design will be tweaked up until vertical construction begins."

Behind a paywall, so I won't post the BBJ link, but Pepper Place will now be designated an entertainment district... so I believe that means open carry of alcohol is allowed.

Also from the BBJ, a Colorado developer called Residential Ventures just bought the Sherman Industries concrete plant in the Parkside area.

^that's great news.

with all the residential development going on in parkside, i'm surprised that parcel directly on 1st Ave S between 16th and 17th hasn't been snapped up yet. maybe the owners just haven't been willing to sell or are holding out for something bigger and better?

I admit to a negative attitude when it comes to the Deep South, (frankly I'm not sure what that moniker actually means, territory-wise). It had never been on my travel wishlist, though so easy to access from my home state of FL.

Total shame on me. It took dropping off a student, cat and car to UAB to disabuse myself of the idea that Birmingham wasn't worth a visit. The article didn't even mention the easy/breezy and attractive airport.

Very happy to say that I will be returning with enthusiasm and will take in all of the sights and eats and drinks that this CN article pointed out. The city and surrounding area is worth reinvestment of time, effort and money by the civic-minded locals and from new fans from afar, myself included. Totally rooting for you!!
