They had their mind on GW park, but like i said...it is what it is
then why did it just come up for public discussion right before the council was to vote? once again, the city has not been completely transparent.

This is why I've been talking to various department heads for over a year, but especially Birmingham PEP (Planning, Engineering, and Permits) about the imperativeness of posting all public hearing agendas at least 7 days prior to the meeting date on the department's page of the city's website. Huntsville have been posting theirs at least 5 years now and peer cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, Memphis, Louisville all do this as well, so Birmingham is the only Class A municipality in the state have no excuses. It shouldn't be the sole responsibility of the local news publications to be the distributor of public meeting notices in 2019. The City of Birmingham should have adequate staffing with the web capabilities to regularly post these meeting agendas on the webpages. Especially, all of the meeting agendas of the Zoning Advisory Committee, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Planning Commission, Citizens Advisory Board, and all 23 of Citizens Advisory Committees. This should be down regularly not just periodically when controversial items are coming up for vote or recommendation.

The mayoral staff is aware of this and have claimed they are working to make sure these meeting agendas are posted on the city's website on the respective department pages. I bet after this most recent fallout due to lack of information on public meeting agendas they are going work on making this happen sooner than later now...

in talks with and finally voting on it is two different things. you can have conversations with investors for how ever long because you can't rush what THEY want to do or discuss about doing. if I am spending my own dime, i am going to make sure everything is good, and if takes years, so be it. Perhaps mlb finally wanted to do it now. who knows.

We all discuss projects in this city that takes forever to get started. something is announced, and several months/years later and still nothing. but this one project was the the wrong option because of location per say.

I'm done talking about it because it has brought to the city "a pick side" among citizens. and it didn't have to come to that. it's just a terrible situation all around.

Just wishing the city will have the heart to say we will build it somewhere in the city for our youths anyway, or maybe a professional baseball player/players hears this sad story and wants to make a difference in our kids live's.

According to Reddit, it is currently a car lot for Mercedes as they are dealing with some supply chain issues.

Not sure if this is what some people alluded to with regards to big news at Shipt, but it appears Bill Smith is out as CEO. He is going to start a new company. Target is putting in place a new CEO.

Well, he sold about a year ago. Likely was working through the transition per the terms of the purchase agreement. The bigger news to me is that he's going to be plowing money into new startups on a local basis.

Yeah that's big. He's now known as a highly successful entrepreneur and has deep pockets personally to get a new business off the ground and could become a more active investor in other local startups.

Yeah he is the kind of community leader that we have been missing for so long. He really likes Birmingham and wants to see it succeed. That goes a long way in the economy and the community to have a figure like that.
