Look around Deer Valley and Lake Cyrus. DV is off Hwy 150 on Ross Bridge Pkwy (used to be called DV Pkwy). I live in the newwer section and there are several large houses (4+ bedrooms) for sale. Nothing wrong with the 'hood, just alot of corporate turnover. It's kind of a hidden 'hood. Also, you can be in downtown B'ham in about 20 min taking a couple back roads ( I do it every day in both directions ).

Any questions, just ask.

Ballantrae is a great place, located in an idyllic valley. The only problem with it is that it is ISOLATED. If you're okay with driving 20 minutes to buy a loaf of bread, then okay. But if you like to have more immediate access to amenities, then you may not want to be that far out.

Hi. Which college campus? And can you describe your needs more fully? Are you a student? Grad student? Instructor? Kids?

I always have to campaign for my town! Bessemer is a historic city making a comeback! We have kids who attend private school but might move the two older one to public school next year!

Yes, but which college? UAB and Samford are a pretty far drive from McCalla. Depending on the length of your stay, you might want to consider either Bluff Park or the Oxmoor Valley. Those are nice areas where houses are still pretty affordable, but also a shorter drive into town. For kids, I might recommend the Bluff Park area, because Birmingham city schools are not very good.

It's what's termed as "in transition." Not where I would land a family.

Thanks for the answer CPG. Could you please go into more depth about what you mean by ´´in transition´´....as in getting worse or better?
