I would love to see this thing come down to Carrington on the Republican side vs Walt Maddox on the Democratic side. I believe either of these guys would be a nice break from the usual good ol boy governors this state elects. What do you all think?

Yeah, you're right. It is sad that this state would rather continue electing the same ole lying and corrupt individuals, than to allow a different kind of politician to have a shot. Carrington has proven to be able to lead under very difficult circumstances. I believe that is exactly what this state needs. We'll see what happens!

Personally, I'm in favor of drawing a line through the midsection of the state, starting at a point on the Mississippi line south of Tuscaloosa, and running along a line that is a little bit south of Montevallo, Sylacauga, and Roanoke.

Everything north of that joins the new state with a new constitution, new everything. Hell, put the capital in Cullman for all I care. That way we could rid ourselves of these counties that think the 1901 constitution is perfectly fine and continue voting in people such as Roy Moore.

While I semi agree with you, you have to remember that Roy Moore has extremely high support among north Alabama. The black belt counties are totally lost and they have no population outside of Montgoemery, but they don't vote for Roy Moore or Robert Bentley.

Winston, Cullman, Blount, Franklin, Lawrence, Fayette counties are all some of the most staunchly conservative and religious counties in the state.

True, but in this situation, they'd be outnumbered by Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, and Birmingham.

Hopefully voter turnout will be strong enough to keep it from being a cakewalk for Moore.

I don't think Moore will have it as easy as some people think. Of course a lot of Alabama voters will vote for him, but the GOP is heavily supporting Luther Strange. I don't want either of them to win.
