Hello everyone! my name is Nick and I am 25 yo. I'm new to this forum and I would love to read your opinions about several things I need to arrange as long as I move to Bham. I will work at UAB hospital and I'm searching for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment/house/condo in the Bham area and near suburbs. my budget is around 1000-1200$. do you have any specific apartments to suggest?
in addition to housing, what do you have to suggest about furniture?
from my understating I will need a car. Is it feasible for a non us resident to lease a car without credit history or should I look for a rental or used car?
I apologise for the long post. looking forward to reading your ideas!
thank you

Look in around the City Center (Downtown, Midtown, and the Southside).

You can look for a furnished apartment (that is, it comes with furniture).

Yes, you will need a car in most parts of the United States. I am guessing that if you have a very nice salary (as a doctor or some other kind of professional or businessman), then maybe the lack of credit history won't a problem.

I would think you may be able to find furnished rentals on craigslist.

I would look in Homewood. If you choose to live in Birmingham itself, please research the areas well.

As mentioned, Rent Monster is a good place to look. Downtown, Southside, Highland Park, Forest Park are the places you want to be. Furnished apartments are not extremely common here, but there are definitely some.

My suggestion would be to find an extended stay hotel with good ratings on TripAdvisor before signing an outright lease. Stay there for a week or so until you find one you like. Also, make sure the apartment you choose is in a safe area.
