You have few options to match Gtown (DC area) in the deep south. Charlotte, Atlanta, New Orleans (to a certain extent). Or if you are interested in Texas, there is the Big-D, Austin, or Houston (but Houston is h-u-g-e. It is like an hour drive from one side to the other. Also expect prices to be similar to G-Town and Alexandria...nothing is cheap anymore.

Great restaurants, a really good music scene, concerts, festivals, arts, nightclubs. It's a pretty great town in which to be single.

Great restaurants, The Wine Loft is one of our best night spots, Art on the Rocks is always fun at the musuem during the summer and make sure to check out My Scoop - MyScoop - this online style magazine hosts events throughout the year which are flocked to by the region's most stylish. You can check out their past parties under Scoop This and Best Dressed.

Birmimgham is a GREAT city, however the nightlife when compared to Miami/LA/DC will not be as lively. Altlanta would be closer to what you are looking for in terms of night life.

Hmm...maybe you should look into the southwest. Phoenix, Denver, Albuquerque, etc. all tend to have a great deal going on.
