Good to hear about Birmmingham's rise as a tech hub! I am an electrical engineering major in his final year at UC Davis; do you think they'll hire grads from California?

I have no interest in Silicon Valley's ultra-expensive and liberal environment. I hear that property taxes in Alabama are very low, below 1%.

Birmingham is also blessed with beautiful scenery and a centralized location. It is only 2 hours away from Atlanta or Chattanooga (and the Tennessee River Gorge), and 90 minutes from Talladega National Forest, and 4 and a half hours from Gulf Shores. IMO, it's more centrally located and closer to beautiful natural settings than California cities are. And, gotta love the Gulf Coast humidity!

If you're into kayaking, don't forget the Ocohee https://www.ocoeeadventurecenter.com I think part of the activities was there some years ago when the Olympics were in Atlanta.

The northeast quadrant of Alabama is extremely beautiful.

The humidity gets old in a hurry though.
