I am moving to Bham in June of this year. Most likely will be living out near GReystone off of 280. Have taken a position at UAB but just curious as to actual travel times for those that drive this route. I am coming from Wash, DC area so I am used to horrendous traffic. I was spending 1.5 hrs at one point for a nine mile commute.. I will most likely be in to UAB by 6:00 AM and will be finished my day from 2-4:00pm. I guess I may occasionally have to leave around peak times. Just looking for an honest idea of what to expect.

Thanks!

Actually it won't be too bad that time of day.

I live off Hugh Daniel Drive. What time of the day do you commute?
It is not as bad as DC.

Sorry! You will be ok in the morning. But 3.00 should be your deadline. YEs there is a green wave during the day. I made from The Summit to Hugh Daniel in ten minutes:>)

I would assume I would leave about 5:30 am usually, maybe 6:45 one day per week. And will return home usually aroun 2:00 -3:15 in the evening.

Thanks

you will have minor traffic and will not experience the traffic you saw in DC especially during your drive times

If you're coming from DC you won't think 280 is bad. Especially at the times you mentioned.

At 6 am you will breeze into work. If you leave at 4:00 it will definitely take longer but not be nearly as bad as DC....
