Any suggestions for where to stop to eat lunch tomorrow as we drive from Memphis to Atlanta through Birmingham? Has to be quick and super close to the highway. Thanks!

Ted's. An old-school meat-and-three.

Right off the 4th Avenue South exit: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Te...!4d-86.8135605

Will they have to detour around the city or hit surface traffic?

Get off 65 at 4th Avenue South, go to Ted's, take 4th Avenue to the Red Mountain Expressway, then hook up with I-59/20. Easy cheesy.

Woodlawn Cycle Cafe is right along the way. It’s 1000% better than Teds.

I have a Birmingham food page on Instagram if you want other suggestions.

WCC is a cannibal's snack compared to Ted's. Ted's the real deal.

I live a half mile from Ted’s. I’ve tried it multiple times. It’s terrible and a poor representation of the culinary scene here in Birmingham.

Please don’t tarnish an outsiders perception of our town with a **** poor food recommendation because you prefer quantity over quality. Might as well suggest a $5 Hot N Ready while you’re at it.

Other things near the interstate:
Carrigans Pub
Pizitz Food Hall (free parking garage)
Saws BBQ Southside
Woolworth

Bless your hearts...

Somehow, southern manners got sidetracked.

Try this place:

My late wife and I had a lunch date there when we first met. Turned out well...

Old school Greek-owned steam table meat and three, better than Ted's IMHO:

Saw's Juke Joint.

/thread

Dmitri's is good for breakfast IMO, does not compare to Saw's. Get off I-20 at Montclair, about 5-7 min. or so off highway.

Personally, I thought B'ham's food scene was below average (really, all of Alabama except the coast), but Saw's is LEGIT. All 3 of them. Juke Joint is best, though.
