lol none of this will matter if they don't pass the damn bill, they are suppose to vote on the bill this week (vote was actually supposed to be today, Pelosi delayed it again), but wouldn't be surprised if Pelosi or Progressive Dems try stop the vote again unless they get $3.5 trillion bill tacked on to it, which we all know is not gonna happen if the Republicans can help it, even if it means dumping the whole bill entirely

Dumping the bill might be the best for the country. There's very little actual infrastructure in it anyway, and this administration has been doing nothing but spending money we don't have.

Wut? Have you ever been to Birmingham?
Many times. Normally, unless there's a wreck, it takes about 20 minutes from the I-22 interchange to below 459. Have you ever been to Los Angeles? Or Atlanta? Or Washington?

Personally I think the bill will help a lot, forgot what all was in it, but overall had a good vibe with, although I would have gone for a higher ratio of bridge and road projects (but its the government, what are you gonna do), but overall I think Alabama has a higher ratio of benefits with it than other state such as 422 and I-whateverthehellthenewinterstateis which in the end may be an alleviant for possible growing pains from the state potentially booming this decade. Mobile could get as much as $1 billion for the Mobile Bayway Bridge, although not sure what the benefits would be for Huntsville in this bill

Also update, the final vote looks to be Thursday and if it fails then the bill is officially dead as Thursday is the day the bill will expire. The Dems are gonna go for a lower bill than 3.5 trillion to tag on to it as they still want to pass the Infrastructure bill. Biden better pray that they do pass the Infrastructure bill as his Public Opinion has absolutely tanked the past few weeks and he desperately needs a pick-me-up if wishes to have a second term

I've not really kept up with all the bills approved/coming up, but look at this link. Apparently a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill was approved in July, but only $1.2 billion was for roads - that's 1/1000th of the total package. Alabama was to get the lion's share of the 1.2, but virtually all was to go to 422 (maybe the link was earlier in this thread). Not sure what the upcoming bill will do.

I don't know that passing the bill will give Biden an uptick in public opinion. Even Harris seemingly has distanced herself from him, but I suppose that's a discussion for the Politics Subforum.

Not sure what that has to do with anything.

We are talking about Birmingham traffic, and it is ALWAYS worse in the city limits, than it is OTM. Reworking the interchanges recently (as part of the bridge replacement) helped, but it's more constricted there, more choke points, more interchanges. There's more lanes OTM too. This is true for any city, really.

That's why I asked if you'd ever been there. Anyone with a working knowledge of the area knows this, but you makes these statements like they are fact.

What do I know? I only lived there for years.

I think it's a shame Meemaw is trying to use 400M in federal welfare Covid funds to build prisons. That money should be funneled into the NB.

Our prisons are overcrowded. Traffic in Pleasant Grove is not.
