Absolutely beautiful! Easily the densest, and most urban city in the state of Alabama! Any city can annex their way to becoming large in land mass, and even in population, but no city in Alabama can duplicate the true big city feel of Birmingham! A city can have 500,000 people, but if that city's population is spread out over land mass similar to some counties, you'll still feel like a very large suburb. Urbanization and density is what makes a true city!

This pic shows one of the two 17 story residential towers going up in the city center. You can also see Top Golf in the background on the right.

I've been gone almost 6 years. It's amazing how much has changed in that short period of time. Good for you, Birmingham.

Maybe not 25-30 stories, but I have a feeling UAB is holding the townhouse location for a future spectacular high rise development that will serve as the other gateway to the campus.

The crazy thing is, this image doesn't even do the city justice, as it relates to major development projects in the city center! There are massive amounts of major development projects that are not captured by the OP's instagram pic. This city is booming, and creating a densely populated urban atmosphere that can't be matched in the state of Alabama!

So, what are Birmingham’s gentrifying neighborhoods?
And do they still love the governor in Birmingham?

Avondale is probably the best example of a gentrifying neighborhood in Birmingham.
