We will be following our daughter, son in law and grandson moving to the Birmingham area.
They are looking for employment and housing around Alabaster. We are active grandparents and will want to be within driving distance but not next door.

We likely will not make a move from our creekside walkout ranch in Indiana to somewhere like it, with out the snow and cold until at least next year. In the meantime I will be "reading the mail" about various towns in the area and likely stop over next spring on our way to the Mobile area for an Elderhostel.

Alabaster is a nice area that is about 30 minutes outside birmingham. I wouldn't let my kids go to public schools out there though. Helena is next to Alabaster and has good schools!

I like Hoover more than Trussville. Trussville is somewhat isolated.

Does anyone know of a custom builder in Birmingham? I know there are many but my close friend is moving to the area and they have been getting mixed reviews on the better ones in town. Thanks to all!

Where are the links to local housing? This thread is great, but I am moving to B'ham and housing is the first issue in which I am interested. Any recommendations? I am looking around the Hoover/Inverness area.

Hello,

I have applied for a job near the Birmingham area, close to Leeds, at Highlands School.
Just wanted to know if anyone knew about that area, if apartments are affordable for a recent college grad.

Thanks!

Default Single moving to Bham

Hello!

I am moving to Bham in the next month. I am 32 single and looking for a decent place to rent at first. I know nothing about Bham and am relocating from Dallas. I want a fun area where I can walk to restaurants and not far from outdoorsy stuff. Ideas?

You ever notice that because Alabama is first on the forums we get the spam and the religious nuts?
