Hi,
I'm new here and I'd like to know where are the good cities or places to go for a weekend that we can drive to? any nice cities, places, waterfalls? I know beaches are way too far? any ideas or places that are worth visiting?
Thanks everyone!

How far away are you willing to drive? We are going to the beach this weekend and google maps says Pensacola is just over a 4 hour drive.

Check out the thread at the top of the AL forum for interesting places to visit.

Here is info on Little River Canyon near Ft. Payne

The Little River in DeKalb and Cherokee Counties of Alabama

There are a lot of neat things to see all around N. AL
Cathedral Caverns - in Grant AL
Lake Guntersville State Park there is a lodge there.
Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville
Shrine of the Scared Heart in Hanceville
Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament
Cullman AL has Ava Maria Grotto

Let us know what you decide

Gulf Shores is about the same distance and you can go straight down I-65 and exit at Hwy59.

Default Thanks :)

Thank you guys!
No we don't have kids just the two of us so romatic getaways or destinations with parties would be cool, we actually prefer the beach, does anyone know how's the oil issue?
Pensacola must be nice, has anyone been there driving from Birmingham?? pics look beautiful!
I'll research on the other destinations too I don't wanna miss anything!
We're willing to drive like at most 4 hours more than that for a weekend would be too much, also, what do you usually do on Memorial Day here? everybody leaves the city and where would you go?

Lakes, the beach, or the mountains, YL. If you head for the beaches, make sure you make reservations and get an early start.
