Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

When I've got to make a hard decision on two good places to go, your writer brilliantly decided on a different plan. It's crazy, but the following was what I needed to resort to when I just have to decide.

You see, I'm trying to determine what catfish eatery I needed to make a return visit to, and I hadn't been to either place in a number of months. Two very fine catfish places (and I recommend both of them) are Molly's in Seven Points, Texas, and McGehee's in...

More Scattershooting / Strange Ninth Inning Happenings

Posted 06-06-2022 at 01:38 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Looks like you've found your way back to Case's Column, where we all gather around the computer campfire and kick a little can around, here and there, to and fro. And then another can, and another one, and another one. It's called Scattershooting. Look at it this way: You can come in from the heat of late spring into some cool air conditioning and read some tidbits of life from the hallways of City-Data.

At least, you now have something useful to do with your time....

The Humorous Things That Ruin A Time Of Solitude

Posted 06-05-2022 at 07:52 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Usually, when it's Sunday morning and the weather is comfortable enough, your writer likes to get on his second-floor patio to watch a pre-dawn sunrise. From May to around August in North Texas, the colors pierce the darkness before 6 a.m. CDT. Picturesque, if you ask me.

Well, I got a good fifteen minutes of what I like to call Sunday morning solitude in, when suddenly, an uninvited guest made an appearance on my patio. My title does say things, as in, there,...

Rain In June A Welcome Sight In North Texas

Posted 06-01-2022 at 07:48 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As hot as things have been, you couldn't even tell that was going on if you had been in my office this afternoon. Sunny skies gave way to darker clouds and a little bit of....................rain.

Actually, there was quite a bit of rain. And with that came the gusty winds that made things look torrential, even for just a few minutes. I probably saw a total of an hour's worth in two different cells which moved through my area today. Once the rain subsided, here comes...
