I was looking at Traveling Horse Transport & Stables Directory to find possible stops on a future cross-country trip with horses, but I found no listings in Idaho. My trip would most likely include taking I-84 through Boise.

Is there anywhere to board a couple horses overnight not too far off I-84?

Try the Idaho Horse Park (right off of I-84) and if they can't accomodate you, I'm sure they know of a place that will. There is also RV hookups and a hotel right across the parking lot.

Have fun on your trip! We've hauled horses cross-country a bunch of times and it's kind of fun to meet horse people across the country.

Here's the listing I use when traveling with the horses:

Horse Motels International. Worldwide horse motel directory for the traveling equestrian. We find horse motels, horse hotels, overnight stabling, overnight boarding, horse hostels, ranches, bed and breakfasts, and hurricane shelter.

Looks like several for Idaho are listed.

Also, fairgrounds everywhere are a good bet and easily googled. They rarely advertise in the stabling guides but the facilities are usually better than the advertised places.
We showed up at one place in Utah and the hand who was there wanted us to turn out horses out in an alfalfa field with a three-foot fence around it.
