The North end is wonderful. Lots of trees and close to downtown. It's probably the nicest area in Boise.

We have resided in Boise for 17 years now, living in different neighborhoods along the way. We owned a nice ranch style home on an acre in S/W Boise, a typical track home in Meridian and now a 50's style bungalow in the North End and I have to tell you the North End wins HANDS DOWN. The ranch home in S/W Boise was nice but an acre of lawn and landscaping just makes you a slave to your yard, should you choose to take care of it yourself. Plus, having that much land allows neighbors to start accumulating lots of junk - RV's, boats, old cars, you know the "projects" no one ever has any time for. The Meridian track home, never again! In our experience anyway, too many neighbors trying to "one up" the other or keeping to themselves. Like the one's who drive into their garage, close the garage door, then get out of the car. Not to mention Meridian north of the freeway suffers from gridlock, plain and simple. The North End, fits our lifestyle. We ride bikes a lot and now have the freedom to experience our wonderful downtown Boise environment without the car. Ride the Greenbelt, hike the foothills. Neighbors are laid back and the keeping up with the Jones' mentality is rare. Neighbors hang out with one another, share their garden bounties, have outdoor fire pit gatherings and so much more. We know everyone within a 1000' perimeter of our home. It's kinda like Woodstock without the LSD.
