We have 4 children, ages 2-15, and we have lived in Boise for 2 years. The things we do with the kids are: Go for walks on the Green Belt along the river, go to the parks (there are amazing parks here), go to the zoo (an annual pass for a family is only $52!), go to the library (it's a nice one), and we like to drive to Idaho City, a ghost town about an hour away.
Also, we go to the movies a lot (there are a couple of "discount" theatres, plus two Edward's), we've been to the Chuck E. Cheese's a few times but it's old and small compared to most. There's another "fun center" called Pojo's but we've only been once and won't go back. There's Roaring Springs, which is kind of a Golf'N'Stuff type place with waterslides, we haven't been there. There's a nice mall (Build a Bear, Disney Store, etc.). Sports seem popular here, lots of kids teams. There's a YMCA. There are public swimming pools and skateparks. Apparently, you can rent a raft at Barber park and "float" the river down to another park, where they will shuttle you back up to Barber Park to pick up your car, for a small fee. Haven't done that yet, but look forward to it. There's an ice skating rink. In the Fall there is a corn maze, but we haven't been to it. In August there is a County Fair. There's BMX here. If you ski, there is a ski resort, I was told it was like 16 miles away, but we tried the drive yesterday just out of curiosity, and it took a very long time. Plus, there's no WAY you'd get me up that road with ice and snow, lol! But that's just me.
That's all I can think of in the immediate area, hope that helps!
