There's no law for motorcycle helmets and I've never heard of one for bicyclists. We'd see PSAs and ads like the one for seatbelts if there were one. Though it is ALWAYS a great idea.
Thanx for the response, it seems like every video/pix I see of the greenbelt and foothills the bikers always seem to be wearing helmets so I wasn't sure.
Biking of all kinds is very popular around here; Mountain, road, recreational. Serious bikers understand it's importance and the community/media does offer reminders and programs to get helmets for low income kids. It really the right and smart thing to do for safety sake, just not the law.

Not entirely true on Motorcycles. The deal is that if you are 21 or older you don't have to wear a helmet, if you are under the age of 21 you have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle. Either way though a moot point as there is no helmet law for bicycles regardless of age. I would concur with the above posts though that if you do quite a bit of bike riding that a helmet would be a good idea.
"No person under eighteen (18) years of age shall ride upon a motorcycle as operator or passenger, upon any highway, unless at all times when so operating or riding upon the vehicle he is wearing, as part of his motorcycle equipment, a protective safety helmet of a type and quality equal to or better than the standards established for helmets by the director."
