The race has been quiet this year. Maybe because Tibbs seems to lack the support needed to win. It seems like Bieter will win with some breathing room, but I could be wrong. I personally think that Bieter should win, I don't know about some of Tibbs ideas. Like putting more police on the street. Boise has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation, why add more police, that is a waste of money. I am also a believer that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. I think Boise is one of the best cities in the country right now, so I think the mayor should stay put. What do you think?

I don't see why it wouldn't, maybe this is why America is screwed up these days, people don't care.

sorry partner. i actually am fully engaged, even holding a degree in political science. if you think who sits as mayor of boise has any relevant impact on the day-to-day operation of the city or its citizens than your delusion runs deeper than anyone can help.

Tibbs is blind and seems like he has the "good ole boys" mentality.
Beiter is right on pulse. I like his stance about light rail now rather than waiting years like Tibbs wants to.

as someone who used to work for ACHD, working on traffic mitigation planning, i can assure you that a light rail in this valley is 15 to 20 years away. generally speaking the population threshold for such a system is at least 1 million. also, in order for a light rail system to ever work you need to have an advance bus system which will get the rail passengers from the rail stops to their final destination and everyone who lives in this valley knows that the ValleyRide bus system is pathetic at best.

please note that minneapolis only just recently got its first light rail line (the hiawatha line.) the metro population for the minneapolis-st. paul metro area is 3,502,891. Minneapolis-Saint Paul - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

in addition, a person needs to realize that no mass transit system ever operates consistently in the black and therefore requires tax subsidies, such as a local option tax. as of today, the idaho constitution does not allow for a local option tax, with the exception of resort towns and there are only three of those, McCall, Sun Valley, and Coeur D'Alene. last year, the morons at the statehouse would not even let a bill out of committee to go to vote, which would have, if passed, allowed for local governments, through the public referendums, the ability to impose new local option taxes only and if approved by a majority vote of the citizens.
