Hi, anyone have recommendations for a good mechanic in the Boise area?

Also, where to you get your oil changed?

Maz-Tech. 40th and Chinden in Garden City. If they can find parts for it they will work on it. We aren't talking about your average tire, radiator shop, etc. We are talking about the folks who are comfortable doing engine swaps, transmission rebuilds, custom builds, etc. and they also have their own race vehicles that they use on the weekends. I have seen everything in there from a Porche 911 to an old Mazda RX3 (they are one of the few places that work on the Mazda Rotary engines) and your everyday average cars. The point is that these folks know cars inside and out. I also get my oil changed there.

385-0339 is their number

I like Wrightway Automotive on Mossy Cup off of Cole and Victory. Gary's Auto is good too but sometimes I feel like they arent trustworthy but I dont have any good reason to not trust them LOL I guess they just seem too nice!

If you have a tough to diagnose problem, I've had the best luck with Oakley-Moody down at 14th and Grove. They are very good diagnostitians, and in the one instance that they couldn't fix an intermittant problem I was having, they didn't charge me a penny.

I have Jiffy Lube change my oil.

I second Oakley. They replaced my timing belt for about $200 less than the next best offer. Although I'm not sure how they stack up for major repairs.

Reviving an old thread, but I have to put in a good word for Pronto Lube and Tune on Overland.

Our sons car died off Eagle road, the Tow Truck driver laughed when we told him Pronto as he had just returned from there. (I took that as a good sign.) Car was picked up at 2:30 and was repaired (alternator) and back in the driveway when we got home at 8 pm.

Yeah I think Garry's automotive is good. Very nice folks. Prices are reasonable, maybe a bit high, but they do a good job. Some of the stuff they recommend to be fixed are a tad...premature..., but overall they are good and won't rip you off.
