We are moving to Idaho this summer from the midwest. My husband will be working in Caldwell but I have heard some not so great things about it like higher crime and poor schools. Are there any good places to live nearby (within a 15-20 min. commute or so)?

Places we are considering...
Middleton
Nampa
Meridian
Star

We like a somewhat rural but close to city community.

Thanks!

We moved to Star last summer, and really like it here. Star and Middleton are very small, Nampa and Meridian much bigger. We are still getting to know the area, but seems like we can get to pretty much anything in a 15-25 minute drive.

If you have more specific questions, I'm happy to answer.

Thanks for the reply SSpromo.

How do you like the schools in Star? From wha I can gather the jr high and high schools are in Eagle. Is it far?

Thanks!

We chose to send our 7th grader to a private school in Meridian (Ambrose School). We looked at Eagle Middle, it isn't too far, but it is huge, something we weren't looking for. The high school is also very large. There are options for Charter schools (North Star Charter), and others in Eagle. We are on the highway 16 side of Star, so we are very close to Eagle. The drive in to Boise (via State St/hw 44) is very easy, as is the drive into Nampa or Caldwell.
