I just started dating a special guy and he turns 40 on April 7. I asked him if I can take him out on the evening of his birthday and now I am trying to come up with a great idea for a spectacular evening.

Relevant facts

-This is a weeknight and he will have to work the next day, so no overnight trip
-He is outdoorsy
-He is intelligent and cultured
-He moved to Boise a year ago from Seattle

Help me create a night he will never forget! Ideas?

LOL. Vegas is for uncreative people to vacation in LOL

Outdoorsy, intelligent, cultured, sounds like me

Anyhoo, check out The Flicks downtown for an indie movie, hit one of many boutique restaurants downtown and top the night off with a few glasses of wine from Piazza di Vino, or The Redfeather Lounge. My suggestion is to stay downtown for the entertainment.

But, I just realized April 7th is First Thursday downtown until 9 or 10pm so a lot of shops and art galleries will be open for strolling with entertainment and most galleries and shops offer free wine tastings as you browse. I am sure the newspaper or Boise Weekly will have a schedule soon for April's First Thursday.

Wow! First Thursday. That didn't even occur to me. Thanks for the tip.

Oh, and I promise to post an update about how the evening went to show my appreciation for the help on this forum! Thanks in advance!

Nope, no Vegas for us. Boise has so much magic, no reason to leave.

Another idea is the Bogus Creek Lodge (Bogus Creek Outfitters :: Sleigh Ride Dinners :: Outdoor Banquets) but I'm not sure if they're open this late in the year...

Default Or . . .

You could go down to the recycling center and picnic in the shade of the can compactor.

I decided on a hot air balloon ride in the morning, then he'll go to work, then we'll hit first Thursday in the evening. I'll let you know how it goes. Please chime in if you have any other ideas, though!

Default Picnic

Picnic in the mountains might be a plus for you. Bogus Basin open?
