Hi all,
I know some of you will not like to hear about another transplant.. but keep in mind that the reason I'm relocating is the same reasons why you love living in Boise!

My family and I have been thinking of relocating for a little over two years, it took us about 6-8 months to eliminate all the locations off our list (for one reason or another) except Boise.
We've been researching Boise for about a year and a half, we've made a few trips (including a winter trip), put ourselves in the middle of "rush hour" several times.. which was more like "regular hour" where I am... to see what it was like there and in January we made the decision.

I've been sending out a steady stream of resumes since then and recently had multiple interviews with a company where I accepted a position with only over the phone interviews.. wow!

I'll be out there the end of the month (April) as I start on 5/2 and the family will be a month or two behind me until we get renters for the house here.

We're going to rent a house in Eagle (where we would like to eventually buy) for a year and if we still like it after that time then buy something in the area.

I'm so excited about the move and people on this forum have been very helpful.

One thing that blows me away about the area is that people actually strike up, or are receptive to, conversations with you! Where I am now, people don't even look at you let alone talk.

I'm under no illusion that it's going to be perfect, no place is, but I think it's going to be a much better way of life for my family and I and I can't wait to contribute to making the Boise area great!

For those of you convinced there's no jobs in Boise, of course it depends on your industry, but keep trying.. there is stuff out there!

If you don't mind sharing, in what industry do you work?

I'm in IT / IS.
If anyone is in the tech industry, there is actually a half way decent tech market in the Boise area.

It's definitely increased over the past year.

I have been following postings on a tech jos site for a little while now and have seen several opportunities in my field in the area but I'm not sure how the earnings are.

In general terms, how does your offer compre to what you're making now (and where are you now)?
