The 2 shops aren't far from me, and very close to each other on Orchard Street. Has anyone bought beef at one or both? Any info on quality and prices is appreciated.

I haven't tried Halal yet but we love Campos. Meat is fine. We usually get the Al Pastor--pork with onions and bacon (raw) that we cook up for the most delicious tacos. They are super friendly--love shopping there for assorted mexican foods. We must be neighbors!

Is the name of the butcher Halal, or is it a "halal" butcher? Halal is the Muslim version of the Jewish kosher. I would be totally embarassed if I walked into a halal butcher and asked for pork chops or bacon!

The name of the store is Halal and I did know it's kinda like kosher. I went in yesterday and they had almost nothing. I saw some goat in the freezer, I think it was ground. The fresh meat case had prices for beef on it but it was empty. I asked if they had steak and he just said no, didn't say what they did have, or if they'd have steak later or not.

Tried Campos but it doesn't open till nine on weekdays come to find out. Didn't want to wait around so I'll go back at a later time.
