Hello again everyone, I'm still new here and forgive me for asking questions. We're moving soon to the Boise area and wanted to know if insects are a problem. Specifically mosquitos. If so, what month are they the worst? Also does Boise have a flea & tick problem? We have 4 dogs and were wondering about their safety. Thanks for the responses in advance.

July and August are the worst months for mosquitoes. It's a pretty dry climate, so if you don't live near a water source they aren't too bad. If you live near one of the rivers or reservoirs, they can get bad.

Not sure about fleas or ticks, since my pets stay indoors.

Have a couple of dogs and have not noticed any issues with fleas. Ticks are a problem for dogs and humans. I do a lot of hiking with one of my dogs and always check them for ticks afterwards. Just pulled a tick off my dog yesterday.

Does anyone live next to a creek or in a subdivision with lakes and/or creeks?

If so, how about the mosquitoes there in the summer time?

Do you know if the HOA sprays pesticides??

Mosquitos haven't really been an issue. I live somewhat close to an irrigation canal, but not backed right up to it.

Although the other night, I went outside just for about 10 minutes at 10:15 and I came in with 3 large bites. I don't like bugs. I know the city does some sort of Mosquito control, but I'm not sure how effective it is. My HOA does not do anything for bugs at all - some may be different though?

I was up climbing in the Pioneer Mountains outside of Hailey over the weekend. Anyplace with water was thick with mosquitoes and horse flies. Even at 10,000 feet altitude the mosquitoes were swarming.
