Why does it seem like every third homeowner here has to mow their lawn and do their weed-eating, pressure washing, etc at 7:30 in the morning? Even on weekends?

I've NEVER lived somewhere that people are so fanatical about lawn care and it's almost every day. I work late hours so I have to sleep in and I can't sleep because I hear lawn equipment 360 degrees around me.

Everywhere I have lived in the past - people would typically wait until about 10am (especially on the weekends just out of courtesy (myself included)

I don't expect the world to revolve around me, but I do expect peace and quiet early in the morning in a single family residential neighborhood.

Please excuse the rant, I was just wondering what the obsession with lawn care is and if there's a reason to get up and do this work so early.

It's like that in Phoenix too. Most people want to get it done before it gets hot. I try to be a nice neighbor and will wait until 8:30AM before I fire up my lawnmower.

When I lived in the midwest or east coast you needed to wait until 10:00AM until the grass was dry enough to cut. Here in Boise or most of the west there is no need to wait, not much dew on the grass.

Interesting, I didn't even think about the dew - that could be a big factor.
Thanks!

What part of town is this? I've had no issues like that in southwest Boise...

It could be lawn crews, too. They have to get an early start if they have a lot of jobs, especially if it's going to be hot that day.

In NW Boise, seems that people wait until after 9 on the weekends (earlier seems to be hired gardeners on the weekdays, but not by much).

And I have lived in places where it started at 7am. Some of that was understandable avoidance of oncoming 110º+ heat, another place I think it was just lack of consideration for others.

I use a push mower and the neighbors never know when I cut the lawn. But......I hear mowers early also. I think it's just to beat the heat or just something that needs to be done before going out for fun. So people do it first thing in the AM so they can get on with other things.
