I would say Boise is a safe place I drive 2 hours to do my main shopping and never feel in danger. The people are friendly. Its just to bad Boise didn't listen when people from California moving here 15 years ago due to wanting to get away from gang violence tried to tell them it was the same activity we saw in California drive by shootings, drugs, invading communitys and bringing down the value of homes.
All you would hear on the news they are just wannabes come on thats like putting your head in the sand. Well, that just gave them 15 years to develop there wannabe ways and now their full blown gangs.
Nampa and Caldwell could have put a stop to this before the gangs invaded and brought down the value of property and citizens living in fear. Nampa and Caldwell use to be such a beautiful place to drive through when you were sick of the snow. Come spring with all the farm animals and wide open space.
Shame on the police force and elected officials
I've lived here for 3 years now. I haven't seen any signs of gang violence or sex offense. That certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but I moved from right outside of Charlotte, and I heard of shootings so often, I prayed every day before leaving my home -- although I still never witnessed it.
I think if you look, you'll find that *everywhere* seems to have large amount of pedophiles lurking. Thankfully, there's even such a thing as a registry.
When we first moved here, there was a registered offender in our neighborhood. The neighbors watched him like a hawk, although his crimes took place in the early 70's. (Drugs? Young 20's dating teen? I don't know; they don't get very specific.) but no matter where I live, I always keep my eye on the list, so I know how far away the nearest offenders live, just to protect my own kids. And I've yet to find a place where there wasn't an offender within a mile or so away.
