Bogus Basin is very close to Boise. I think it is about 25 miles N. East of the Boise city limits (google Bogus Basin RD) it was about a 40 minute drive.
We went skiing there last year and liked it. I don't think they make snow there, but it was nice last February.
Also, there are three more places within 2-4 hours of here. Tamarack, Brundage and Sun Valley. I hope to try them all this winter.

Bogus Basin is about 12 miles straight up the mountains out of downtown Boise, and is that many miles because the road is curvy and you have to drive slow because of the curves, the drive usually takes less than 1/2 hour.
You can even see the night skiing lights at Bogus from the valley, pretty cool.

If you are in SoCal, you will be very happy with Bogus if you've done any skiing/boarding at Snow Summit. Bogus is ~10x larger and far less crowed, so much so that the busiest day I've ever seen at Bogus was far less crowded than the slowest day I'd seen at summit. Plus Bogus has the cheapest lift tickets that I know of. As low as $199 for a season pass if purchased in April. I go every chance I get.

Hi Dennis,,
You can visit Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area to find out about the resort. Then check out www.BogusBasinSkiClub.com for ski trips or other events. See ya on the slopes, could be an early season this year.
