I just moved to Boise from New York. My husband is from the Caribbean. I've done a lot of searches online for Caribbean culture - or even AfAm culture in Boise but have come up with nothing more than a link to the Black History Museum in Boise.
If anyone has any info - addresses, links, phone numbers - regarding culture, gatherings (I know about the Soul Food Festival), restaurants, etc, I would really appreciate it! We moved to be closer to family and I'm trying to lessen his culture shock by finding stuff that's familiar to him.
Also, if you know of a salon that cuts AfAm hair (men and women), please let me know.
Don't know if this helps, but you may want to contact St. Pauls Baptist Church in downtown Boise. They are the oldest predominately black church in town.

How thoughtful of you to try and seek something familiar for your significant other. I wish I could help offer a place that might fit the bill, but nothing comes to mind. Maybe I can help on the hair end of it- I'll contact my hair dresser and see if she can offer a referral for you; I'll email you with the info.
