Boise is unique, that is true, but so is Trader Joe's and it will do nothing to make Boise look less unique! It is not like a chain...WHY do you and others insist that it is like the big chains. It, of course, is a chain store as far as having a lot of stores, but EACH store looks like a small town grocery store with extremely friendly help and food that is not full of preservatives and other garbage. Quit lumping Trader Joes in with the big box chains as they are NOTHING like those stores!!!

Henry's is kind of related to Sprout's and their concepts are pretty similar.

I really disagree with the last paragraph of this post. 75% of what is bought at Trader Joe's is NOT snack food or sugar....and if you are only buying those products, they are STILL healthier than a regular store. As for the Boise Co-op it is expensive, and Win-Co is just another grocery store and NOT better than Trader Joe's! We made the mistake of buying boxed macaroni and cheese from Win-Co the other day because we were short of time. Ewww!! It was horrible! Trader Joe's organic mac and cheese, on the other hand, tastes like homemade and is not full of salt, hydrogenated fats, and additives. I used to buy Trader Joe's breakfast bars to take to work and their blueberry snack bar has REAL blueberries. I really miss Trader Joe's and will be making a 241 mile drive to Bend, OR as soon as the Trader Joe's products I have brought with me here run out.

Ravynnelyn - I do agree whole heartedly.
TJ's is a great place to shop for children who have wheat sensitivities. I buy the frozen wheat-free waffles for a fast morning food for my kids, slathered in almond butter & a smidge of agave syrup....I feel good I got a fast meal that was good for them before school.
Mac & Cheese w/ rice noodles? Perfect!
Not to mention the totally uncessary but FUN guacamole kit in the produce section! They give you the produce, you do the chopping & smashing!
Precooked beets vacuum packed? AWESOME addition to risotto or roasted veggies!
Bacon w/ no nitrites or hormones UNDER $5? I'm there!
Tj's has great things. And I save about $40 when I go there.
We can truly go on & on about why we love our particular store, everyone has one and it's hard to leave it when you love it so much. And being that my MIL lives in Oregon I too will probably hit TJ's before going home after a trip to see her....but in the meantime I'll just find another store I love to love. Change is good, even if it means I have to say goodbye to inexpensive green juice!

It all depends on the brand of mac and cheese you buy. I do not shop often at Winco, but I do know they carry organic additive free mac and cheese as well as the typical national brands. In fact I think Winco does a pretty good job at stocking their shelves with organic goods and gluten free goods.
