I also saw a description of the Boise Metro area (or at least where Boise has influence) that starts in Mountain Home and goes to Ontario Oregon. Having driven to both for business and seeing some of the houses starting to pop up off of I-84, I would definately call the I-84 corridor between Mountain Home and Ontario part of the Boise Metro area. There is still lots of open land out there and I would not be surprised if there are a million people living along I-84 in the next 10-20 years.
Yes there will be growth, but I doubt that it will ever approach what I have seen in Arizona. Boise is not warm enough to attract lots of retirees, we do not have non-stop flights every hour to southern California, and we are not big enough to attract people looking for big city living. The other thing is that we will have some illegal immigration from Mexico and points south, but nothing like what has hit Phoenix in the last ten years.
