Hi all,

Recently stayed 15-20 miles north of Idaho City for the weekend. Mostly short hikes, relaxing at the stream/river, stuff like that.

We also took the family car on some of the National Forest roads. Driving slow, we didn't have much trouble, but some were impassable in the car.

I then thought it would be fun to rent an ATV to drive around on these mountain roads. While driving on one of these remote roads, a person on an ATV asked if I was lost! Nope! I asked if they knew of a place to rent ATVs anywhere in the vicinity. They didn't know of any...and I couldn't find any that were even remotely close.

Bottom line...is it possible to rent an ATV for use in these more remote areas, without having a truck to haul/pull it? FYI: I'm not interested in an ATV to race or jump, just to explore some of these remote National Forest roads with a couple young children as passengers. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tim

Im not sure who rents ATVs, but at the very least you'd need a way to get it to your destination. Have you considered renting a truck as well or installing a hitch on your car? Most cars can tow an ATV or two on a small trailer. I would imagine a place who rents ATVs at least has a trailer to go with them. If not, a small utility trailer could be had for cheap and would surely come in handy for other adventures or uses.

ATV Rentals ID | ATV Rental | ATV Riding | Idaho

Here's a link to ATV rentals. They do come with a trailer. However, I'm not sure it's advisable to have more than the driver and one passenger due to safety concerns.
