If I don't do this soon, I'm going to get my hair butchered by your typical modern hair place, which I don't want. I would like to find a traditional barber in west Boise, ideally north of Fairview or at least Franklin. My concept of a traditional barber shop is:
- Male barber, typically older, typically owns his own shop.
- Typically costs $12-15.
- Understands that a flattop crew cut does not mean just cutting it all the same length like a tennis ball.
- Women (even the macha kind) are tolerated with minimal grace and in silence in the shop, unless escorting an older/disabled/child male relative. Otherwise, they do not belong.
- Most of the patrons somewhat know each other, because that's where they've been going for ten years or more.
- Doesn't ask patrons what gauge of clipper to use, because is enough of a barber to know that patrons pay a barber to figure out how to cut hair correctly.
- Has a large pile of obsolete magazines to read while waiting, mostly Field & Stream, Sports Illustrated and National Geographic type stuff. No Cosmo.
Is there such a barber shop in that neck of the woods?
