We are going to be visiting Boise/Meridian area in June/July of this year. Thinking it may be nice to stop in at a couple bars and have a couple a beers and play a little pool with the locals. We are middle age so we aren't interested in the college type places...prefer the more rustic..country type places. Would appreciate if anyone could give me names of places?

Sounds like you are looking for dive bars. I'm not sure there are too many country type bars in Boise but here is a limited list from a few years ago of dive bars. Looks like there are no Meridian places in this article.

The K-9 in Boise isn't mentioned but it is definitely a dive bar.

I recommend the Dutch Goose in Boise.
It's a total dive but the food is very good.
They have pool, horseshoes, etc.
I don't think they serve liquor, only beer and wine.
College kids do hang out there, but a lot of "old" folks too.
The food is really the main attraction.
