Currently live in Eastern Pa, we do receive heavy snowfalls, also we just went thru a major power outage due to an ice storm, I might be relocating to Boise, do I need my snowblower ( 2 stage ), also my Honda generator which is fed thru a transfer switch, i was intending to sell these two items since they are almost brand new, Am I safe to assume that Boise does not experience any weather related power outages, also the snowfall is never on the heavy side ?
I don't think anyone will be willing to say we "never" have power outages due to weather, or snowfall is "never" heavy, but it is really rare. Snowfall is rarely more than 6", usually much less. They closed school Friday for a 2" snowfall. I only know one person who owns a snowblower.
I can't remember the last winter power outage that lasted any significant time. definitely not long enough that my house got cold. We do sometimes have summer outages, though. I do know some people who have backup generators, as apparently some parts of town have short outages fairly often.
The only time I ever had a power outage during my Boise days was during a severe wind/dust storm. I remember looking out the window and thinking I was in The Wizard of Oz, without the actual funnel.

I wouldn't think you'd need the snowblower unless the area you plan to keep clear is really big. Can't think of any reason to have a generator, either. We don't have extended outages where you'd need to power a fridge or something.
Used to live in one of those areas prone to outages and I can't remember any outage that lasted longer than 3-4 hours. Most of them were small little outages of a few minutes to maybe an hour.
I agree with everyone, Idaho Power does a great job keeping outage time to a minimum around the area. It probably helps that we have fewer severe weather events than many areas of the country too!
Although I agree with what everyone has said so far, I will say that whether you need those items or not will depend on the property that you rent or buy. My home was the only home in our cul-de-sac that had an extremely long driveway and did not get much sun at all. It would have been fantastic to have had a snow blower so that my driveway didn't become an ice skating ring after I spent numerous hours removing snow from it and also my sidewalks (which everyone is supposed to do).
It really depends on your exposure, surrounding homes and trees blocking the sun on your drive and front walkways and whether you work and don't have hours to remove snow that might become black ice and dangerous for you and your family. Most of my cul-de-sac neighbors had short driveways and the perfect sun exposure and the 6 inches of snow would melt away for them. Not so for me unfortunately. YMMV
