We've been house hunting for the past 2-3 weeks and I'm not sure if it's true but it feels like each week (I only have 3 to count, agreed) there are fewer houses popping up, instead of more as we'd hoped would be the case. We're looking mostly though not exclusively in the north end. Maybe this is part of the problem? Is this area always with low inventory? Maybe we're being too picky. Anyway, just wondered if anyone out there in real estate wanted to give their opinion, or advice.
The North End inventory does fluctuate a lot. There have been more homes coming on the market recently, but The North End is pretty much a completely different market than the rest of Boise. The inventory has been moving pretty quickly in the past few months, especially if the house is a good deal.
Have you checked out NE Boise at all? That's a nice area with a North End feel as well.
Get yourself a good realtor. The seller of the homes almost always pick up the commission, so it's free representation for you. Us realtors can actually save you a good amount of money!
Ok, good to know.
We have a realtor who is ok. I don't think he normally works in the north end is the problem. And he has other work/jobs so I guess that's not ideal. He's ok for now though.
Thanks again!

I'd get one that is focused on the Northend as they will likely have more insight into houses coming on the market in advance of them hitting the MLS. They'll also have a better knowledge of the area. Agents like to classify a pretty large area as the Northend for marketing purposes, but there's huge difference between 21st & Ridenbaugh and 30th & Taft, for example.
I hear what you're saying. The realtor does live in the N End, so he has that knowledge, and we ourselves now seem to have a sense of the area (we're already living here and have seen quite a few houses and blocks). I thank you for the advice.
